Dr. Julia Mason, MD MS FAAP
Dr. Julia W. Mason is a Board-Certified pediatrician with a passion for caring for the well-being of children and adolescents. She became a doctor in 1994 at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. After that, she trained to be a pediatrician at Children's Hospital Los Angeles from 1994 to 1997. In addition to her medical degree, she holds a Master's degree in Nutrition. This helps her understand how food affects our health, another passion of hers.
Dr. Mason believes in using scientific evidence to make medical decisions. She's part of groups like the Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Board of Pediatrics. You might have seen her name in the New York Times, or heard her on health podcasts. She really likes working in a small pediatric clinic because she enjoys working with parents and watching kids grow into adults.
In her job, Dr. Mason thinks vaccines are really important to keep kids safe. However, she also knows that each child is different, so she tries to be flexible and understand each family's unique situation. She cares a lot about mental health and tries to treat the whole person, not just their symptoms. She wants to use as little medicine as possible and check if it's still needed regularly. She thinks sleep is super important for staying healthy too.
When she's not at work, Dr. Mason has lots of interests. She likes permaculture (which is a way of farming that's good for the environment), yoga, gardening, cooking, knitting, and weaving. Dr. Mason's warm and caring nature, combined with her medical expertise, makes her a trusted healthcare partner for families.
